Mawra Hocane’s Sanam Teri Kasam Re-Release Becomes 2025’s Biggest Surprise
Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut with the romantic tragedy in 2016.

The re-release of Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, has been a phenomenal success at the box office.
Originally released in 2016, the film was considered a flop with lifetime earnings of only about Rs 9 crore. However, its re-release on February 7, 2025, has turned the tables, taking the total of five days to Rs 22 crore nett in India.
Here is a day-wise box office breakup of Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release after 5 days:
- Friday: Rs 4.25 crore
- Saturday: Rs 5.25 crore
- Sunday: Rs 6.25 crore
- Monday: Rs 3.25 crore
- Tuesday: Rs 3 crore
- Total: 22 crore
This romantic drama has not only surpassed its original lifetime collection but also become one of the biggest surprises at the box office early in this year due to its unexpected resurgence in popularity.
The success can be attributed partly to Harshvardhan Rane’s efforts in advocating for a re-release after noticing fan demand on social media platforms.
Despite facing competition from new releases like “Loveyapa” and “Badass Ravi Kumar,” Sanam Teri Kasam continues to captivate audiences with its poignant love story.
With this renewed success, there is already buzz about a potential sequel titled “Sanam Teri Kasam Part II,” which could further capitalize on this momentum if executed well.
Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane made her Bollywood debut with the romantic tragedy film Sanam Teri Kasam in 2016. The movie, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, also marked the Hindi film debut of Harshvardhan Rane. In the film, Mawra played the role of Saraswati “Saru” Parthasarthy, a South Indian girl working as a librarian.
Despite receiving positive reviews for her performance, the film did not fare well at the box office initially. However, its re-release in 2025 has been remarkably successful.
