Aaradhya Bachchan Takes Legal Action Against Misleading Online Content

Delhi High Court Issues Notices to Google and Other Platforms

Aaradhya Bachchan, the daughter of Bollywood actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, has recently taken legal action against misleading online content about her health.

The Delhi High Court has issued notices to Google, Bollywood Times, and other platforms in response to her petition, which seeks to address the circulation of false information regarding her well-being. The next hearing is scheduled for March 17, 2025.

This is not the first instance of Aaradhya facing such misinformation; in April 2023, the Delhi High Court ordered Google to remove videos that falsely claimed she was “critically ill” or had passed away.

Justice C Hari Shankar condemned the dissemination of such content, emphasizing that every child deserves dignity and respect. He stated that sharing false information about a minor’s health is “completely unacceptable in law” and directed Google to disclose the identities of those responsible for uploading misleading content.

“Every child is entitled to be treated with honour and respect, be she the child of a celebrity or the child of a commoner. Dissemination of misleading information relating to a child, especially as regards her physical or mental well-being, is something which is completely intolerable in law. No technicalities can come in the way of the Court stepping in, where such attempts are brought to its notice,” Justice C Hari Shankar had observed, Bar and Bench reported.

The court’s previous ruling highlighted the serious implications of spreading falsehoods about minors, reinforcing the need for accountability among online platforms. Aaradhya’s current legal team argues that the ongoing circulation of misleading information is defamatory and violates her right to privacy as a minor.
