Abida Parveen’s team has addressed recent rumours regarding her health.

Pakistan’s music legend team clarified that she used a wheelchair during her visit to the National Museum of Qatar for convenience rather than due to an inability to walk.

This statement was made on her official Instagram page, aiming to alleviate concerns among her fans and the public about her well-being.

The singer, renowned for her contributions to Sufi music, has faced health-related rumours in the past, which have often caused distress among her supporters.

The current clarification emphasizes that she is in good health and that the use of a wheelchair was a personal choice rather than a necessity.

Abida Parveen was initiated to the iconic Museum of Islamic Art, in Doha on January 16, 2025. However, seeing the music metro sitting in a wheelchair raised significant concerns among her fans.

Abida Parveen, often hailed as the Queen of Sufi Music, has received numerous accolades throughout her illustrious career, celebrating her profound influence on music and culture. 

In 2012, Abida Parveen was honoured with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Kaladharmi Begum Akhtar Academy of Ghazal in India, recognizing her contributions to Sufi music and her ability to elevate its spiritual essence.

She was awarded Pakistan’s Pride of Performance in 1984 and the Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2005, two of the highest civilian honours acknowledging artistic excellence in Pakistan.

Abida has performed globally, including at prestigious venues like the Royal Albert Hall in London and at various international festivals, showcasing her music to diverse audiences.

In January 2015, she received this award in Dubai for her role in promoting peace through Sufi poetry and music, highlighting her status as a cultural ambassador for Pakistan.

On August 14, 2020, she was conferred with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz, Pakistan’s highest civilian award, further solidifying her legacy as a leading figure in Sufi music.

Abida Parveen’s work not only exemplifies artistic excellence but also serves as a bridge promoting cultural understanding and peace through her powerful performances and spiritual messages.
