Adam Sandler who won big time at the Independent Spirit Awards has taken a dig at Oscars for not including him in its list of best actor nominees this year. The actor who won the same award for Chinese-American film The Farewell had a lot to say about the Academy in his acceptance speech.
“A few weeks back when I was quote, unquote, snubbed by the academy, it reminded me when attended high school and was overlooked for the coveted yearbook superlative category best looking,” said the actor at the event.
He further went on to take jibes at the Oscars nominees as he mocked them for their “good looks”.
“Their handsome good looks will fade in time, while our independent personalities will shine on forever,” he said.
The Farewell, which also won the best film at the Independent Spirit Awards has been excluded at the Oscars as well as its director Lulu Wang who was snubbed out of the nominees despite a successful flick.
Independent Spirit Awards, which had mostly people of color, women and other segments included in ita nominees, look for films made under $20 million and acknowledge them for their merit.
