Adnan Siddiqui Calls Indian screenwriter-lyricist Javed Akhtar an “Educated Fool” Over Anti-Pakistan Remark

Javed Akhtar had said, “So, if I only have a choice of going either to hell or to Pakistan, I would rather like to go to hell.”

Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui has publicly criticised Indian screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar, calling him an “educated fool” after Akhtar declared he would rather go to hell than to Pakistan.

The remark was made by Akhtar at the launch of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s book Narkatla Swarg in Mumbai, where he explained that people from both India and Pakistan abuse him—one side calling him a “kaafir” and the other a “jihadi.”

Akhtar said, “So, if I only have a choice of going either to hell or to Pakistan, I would rather like to go to hell.”

Siddiqui, who has also worked in Bollywood, dismissed the lyricist’s statement on Instagram, sparking a social media backlash.

Taking to Instagram stories, Adnan Siddiqui wrote, “There’s a well-known proven: An Educated Fool.”

“Because even an educated person can be ignorant, you can expect such words or behaviour from someone uneducated, and you don’t take offence- after all, the poor soul is uneducated,” Adnan wrote.

He went on to add, But Mr. Javed, with all due respect, this proverb seems tailor-made for you!”

This exchange highlights the ongoing tensions and personal attacks that often surface between public figures from India and Pakistan amid broader political and cultural conflicts.

Siddiqui’s blunt response reflects the hurt and frustration felt by many in Pakistan over such dismissive remarks about their country.
