Ali Zafar says he was targeted through an organized plan for personal gains by Meesha Shafi

Last year, Meesha Shafi accused actor cum singer Ali Zafar for having sexually harassed her on more than one occasion. Shafi filed a petition against Zafar for the same, while Ali Zafar who categorically denied all claims, filed a defamation case against Shafi.

Today, speaking to the media outside a sessions court in Lahore, hearing the defamation suit against Shafi, Ali Zafar said, “I am truthful and those who are honest appear without being called.”

“There was a social media campaign against me and I have taken this up  with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA),” the Channo singer said.

Adding further, the Kill Dil actor said, “Meesha’s lawyer has been following and retweeting fake accounts.”

“This was done according to a proper plan. I was targeted for personal gains. Was this done because she [Meesha Shafi] is going to Canada and her immigration is happening? I don’t know if she wanted international recognition there and become a Malala.”

“Meesha’s case was dismissed as was her appeal,” Ali said. “My case is that of compensation, it has been a year and our witnesses have appeared eight times. The case should be decided fast so my truth and their lie can be revealed,” he added.

The cross questioning of witnesses begins today and Ali Zafar has urged that Meesha Shafi’s witnesses appear before the court.

The hearing was presided by Additional Sessions Judge, Shakeel Ahmed, and witness Baqar Abbas’ testimony has been recorded. The next hearing of the case will now take place on May 4th and the court has summoned other witnesses.

Ali Zafar’s statement regarding Malala received a lot of backlash on social media. The singer then took to Twitter to say Malala was a true warrior and Meesha could not become her.
