Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos publicly accuses National Enquirer of blackmail and extortion

The world’s richest man, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos says that he was the target of “extortion and blackmail” by the publisher of the National Enquirer.

He says the Enquirer chief threatened to publish revealing personal photos of him unless he stopped investigating how the tabloid obtained his private exchanges with his girlfriend.

In a blog post, Jeff Bezos says that David Pecker and AMI threatened to release embarrassing photos unless Bezos agreed to stop investigating them and released a statement saying he didn’t have anything on them! He has also included emails in the post.

Bezos, who is also the owner of The Washington Post, has detailed his interactions with American Media Inc., in blog post-Thursday on Medium.com., is internationally being termed as an extraordinary post and move.

The billionaire also says that the Enquirer wanted him to make a public statement that the tabloid’s coverage was not politically motivated.

Bezos’ accusations have added another twist to a high-profile clash between the world’s richest man and the leader of America’s best-known tabloid.

He also writes, “AMI, the owner of the National Enquirer, led by David Pecker, recently entered into an immunity deal with the Department of Justice related to their role in the so-called “Catch and Kill” process on behalf of President Trump and his election campaign. Mr. Pecker and his company have also been investigated for various actions they’ve taken on behalf of the Saudi Government”.
