Amber Heard Testifies In Johnny Depp Libel Trial Against British Newspaper

The Johnny Depp libel trial against the British tabloid is in process in London’s court and his ex-wife – the Hollywood actress Amber Heard has given some highly-anticipated testimony in the over-all row.

Depp, 57-year-old, sued News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The Sun, over a story calling him a “wife beater” in reference to Heard’s allegations that he physically harmed her.

On Monday— the first of three days of testimony from Heard in the trial— the actress has given a written statement to the court, accusing Depp of physical abuse and of threatening to kill her, reports said.

“Some incidents were so severe that I was afraid he was going to kill me, either intentionally or just by losing control and going too far,” Heard said in the statement. “He explicitly threatened to kill me many times, especially later in our relationship.”

The actress also spoke on the eyewitness stand about an alleged incident in 2015 in which she and Depp got into an argument in a hotel room “that resulted in Johnny kneeling on my back and hitting me on the back of the head,” Deadline reports.

Depp previously denied Heard’s allegations of abuse by saying; “these sick claims are totally untrue.”

Depp, in his statement has alleged Heard of being “the abuser,” saying that “rage-filled violent incidents on planes were common with Amber.”

On the other hand, Heard testified, “When I felt my life was threatened, I tried to defend myself.”
