Aurat March 2020: Ahmed Ali Butt calls out ‘Mera Jism Meri Marzi’ slogan

As the day of Aurat March 2020 approaches near, the voices in support and against are getting higher and higher.

One of the slogans of Aurat March that appeared at last year’s play card has become one of the trademarks of women’s rights campaigns in the country. Mera Jism Meri Merzi has attracted more of the criticism undermining the intention behind it.

And in course of recent development, the abusive comments by writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar during the live TV show hitting at activist Marvi Sirmed on basis of infamous Mera Jism Meri Marzi is echoing ever since on every national platform.

Many of the celebrities have come forward sharing their two cents on the matter and elaborating this slogan while it trends on social media.

The latest addition to the comment over this ongoing fiasco is actor Ahmed Ali Butt, who has called out the slogan Mera Jism Meri Marzi terming it a Western campaign, being exploited locally.

In a recent Instagram story, Ahmed Ali Butt said, went on the criticize both Khalilur Rehman and Marvi Sermid saying, “Khalilur Rehman abused on TV while Marvi Absued on Twitter, both are wrong and disrespectful, I have no sympathy for anyone”.

“I have even less sympathy for people who exploit the so-called Mera J Merey XYZ”, he further added.

“It’s a Western campaign which supports, make abortion legal, abolish the ban on organ sale and make prostitution legal,” he said in the story.

“When it comes to women’s rights, Islam has the most rights and respect for women. It’s sad to see how we forgot that and follow a trend and funded movements,” he said.

 

Earlier,  Mahira Khan came forward voicing her support for the cause – all set to take place on March 8, urging the contributors to speak for the bases women are fighting for instead of holding placards “that are just there to initiate”.

“We don’t march for ourselves. We march for those who cannot march for themselves,” she wrote in a note on Twitter.

“As a privileged woman I march for those who are not in my position, who don’t have the basic rights that I have enjoyed since I was born,” the Superstar actress wrote.
