A member of K-pop megagroup BTS told reporters he was "very sorry" for driving an electric scooter while drunk.

BTS’ SUGA was summoned for police questioning concerning DUI (driving under the influence) charges on Friday.
According to the Korean media reports, SUGA appeared at the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul on August 23 at 7:45 PM KST after completing his public service military duties for the day.

As he arrived at the police station and faced the media, the BTS member expressed, “Firstly, I am very sorry. I’m truly reflecting after disappointing many fans and many people. I will diligently undergo investigations. Once again, I am sorry.”

SUGA was discovered by police after he fell off an electric scooter in the Hannam-dong district of Seoul at night on August 6.
Upon realizing he had been drinking and driving, authorities took him to a police station, where his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.227%. This level is reportedly the highest recorded in a celebrity DUI case.
South Korean law treats drunk driving on an electric scooter the same as driving a car, so SUGA will be subject to a criminal investigation.
The singer, who is currently performing mandatory military duties as a social service agent, has already had his driving license revoked and been fined.
According to the local Police, SUGA’s blood alcohol level was 0.227 per cent — nearly three times over the legal limit.
This could mean a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine between KRW 10 million ($7,295) to KRW 20 million ($14,952) under the South Korean Road Traffic Act.
Both SUGA and BIGHIT MUSIC have issued formal apologies in response to the incident.
