This March on the 23rd day, famed Pakistani actress Mehwish Hayat is going to be one of 127 people who will be presented with the civil award Tamgha-i-Imtiaz, by President Arif Alvi in honour of their work for Pakistan’s betterment.
Tamgha-i-Imtiaz is the fourth-highest decoration given to any civilian in Pakistan for the recognition of their services for the country.
But a publication went too far, alleging that the actress for being given the civil honour because of political connections with the government but not on merit.
The actress who has worked in several blockbuster films and TV dramas in the past few years, herself called out at the publication in a recent tweet, which published an article questioning her nomination for the civil award.
Though the tweet by the publication has been removed few screenshots are still available on social media.
