Ever since 2016, when social media introduced the trend of monochrome photos for cancer awareness cause, the pattern has often been taken up for various causes.
The latest is women celebrities using #ChallengeAccepted hashtag – known for such black and white photos – to show support for each other, uplift each other, and send out a message of women empowerment.
According to Instagram, over 3 million black and white pictures have been uploaded on the platform with the hashtag #ChallengeAccepted. This does not take into account the numerous photos of women supporting the movement with the hashtag #womensupportingwomen.
From Pakistan, singer and actor Meesha Shafi and many others have shared a picture with captions elaborating Challenge Accepted.
“So grateful for the inspiration and support from all the women around me,” wrote Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif as she nominated Anushka Sharma and Kareena Kapoor Khan for the challenge.
Among other celebrities who put up their beautiful black and white pictures were Dia Mirza, Jhanvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Bipasha Basu, Malaika Arora, and Kareena Kapoor.
On the Hollywood front, model Cindy Crawford was the foremost one as she put up a monochrome image of herself walking on the beech.
“Love this simple way to lift each other up. #challengeaccepted. Thank you for nominating me @vanessabryant,” Cindy captioned.
“To all my Queens- Let’s spread love and remember to be a little kinder to one another. #womensupportingwomen,” Khloe Kardashian’s picture said.
