Coronavirus May Jeopardize Meghan, Harry’s ‘Financial Independence’ Plans
Coronavirus pandemic has globally hit the economy and many are left to wonder if and things will go back to normal for their businesses. But as we ponder upon the financial crunch of various industries, one couple, in particular, might face the impact of COVID-19 that has brought everyone’s plans to a halt.
According to an insider of Buckingham Palace, the virus might also take a hit at financial independence plans of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle who set out in January to make a living for themselves without the royal family’s association.
It was presumed that the couple might be positively cashing in on their status of being former royals, and earn a large chunk of wealth by speaking at various conferences that seek celebrity presence. But that might not be the case anymore, says the insider.
“The worldwide health crisis has plunged the world into a financial climate unheard of before and the opportunities for companies to waste cash by booking celebrities to speak at conferences [aren’t there anymore],” the source said while talking to British journalist Neil Sean.
“Now it could be a very tricky path to become financially independent,” the source added.
However, the Sussexes might not be looking into these matters for now as they recently took to Instagram to address the Coronavirus situation with some motivational words.
“These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary,” wrote the official Instagram handle of the couple.
“There are so many around the world who need support right now, who are working tirelessly to respond to this crisis behind the scenes, on the frontline, or at home. Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit,” added Meghan and Harry who pledged to work in their capacity in the coming weeks and share relevant information and facts for public awareness.
