David Beckham banned from driving for 6 months

David Beckham, star footballer and former England captain had previously pleaded guilty to using a mobile phone while driving in Central London back on November 21 last year. According to reports, the court heard Beckham was photographed by a public member for holding his phone while he drove in slow moving traffic.

Following proceedings, David Beckham, 44, has now received six points on his driving license adding to the six he already had for speeding offense.

In addition to ban on driving for six months, Beckham has been fined £750, ordered to pay £100 in prosecution costs and a £75 surcharge fee within seven days.

Although district judge Catherine Moore acknowledged the slow moving traffic, Beckham was told there was “no excuse” under the law.

According to Beckham’s defence barrister Gerrard Tyrrell, the former football star had no recollection of the day whatsoever, but since he loved picking and dropping his children from school, when he could, he would definitely acknowledge the ban.
