Deepika will not play Ranveer’s wife in ’83
We earlier brought you the news about Deepika Padukone starring in the Kabir Khan directorial ’83 as Ranveer Singh’s wife. Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev in the film and Deepika was being considered for the role of Dev’s wife, Romi, in the film. However, according to Deccan Chronicle, this is not happening and fans will have to wait to see Ranveer and Deepika together on screen post their marriage.
According to a source quoted by Deccan Chronicle, “’83 is a boys’ films. The focus is on Kapil Dev and his team bringing home the World Cup. Ranveer plays Kapil Dev. While Deepika playing his wife Romi sounds tempting, it’s just not true. Kapil Dev’s wife’s role will be very limited in this film and Deepika is a huge brand. She wouldn’t do any film just because her husband is in it.”
’83 is an upcoming film directed by Kabir Khan and focuses on Kapil Dev and India’s fight to bring the World Cup back home in 1983.
Deepika and Ranveer have previously worked in a number of films together including Ram Leela, Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, all by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
