Diljit Dosanjh postpones Houston concert, as it was arranged on a Pakistani’s invite

Indian singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has announced on Wednesday that he will postpone a concert invited by a Pakistani man in Houston scheduled for the next weekend amid the controversy that landed him in hot waters.

The artists are considered as the ambassadors of peace internationally and there lie no boundaries for art, however, the case is totally different in the world’s largest democracy India.

It was earlier when Indian celebrity singer Mika Singh faced the music for visiting Pakistan for a private function.

Though Diljit Dosanjh has a concert lined up in the US, as it had a Pakistani connection it was not acceptable for India.

Making an announcement on Twitter for the postponing the concert, the 35-year-old singer denied any link between the show and the Pakistani man while saying that he was not aware of any intimation by the federation to not take part in shows promoted by Pakistanis.

While endorsing his statement regarding the issue, Dosanjh said that he signed a contract with “Shri Balaji Entertainment”. He said that all his dealings were direct with the organization and nobody else was mentioned in the contract, as the Federation alleged in the sent letter.

“I have decided to postpone my Houston show at this time”, he said, “I love my country and will always stand for the greater interest of the nation. India always”.

Earlier this week, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had written a letter to the Indian External Affairs’ Ministry, pointing out that Dosanjh would be performing as per the request of Pakistani man Rehan Siddiqui and this “would set a wrong precedent in view of the current alarming situation between the two rival countries”.

The letter further pushed that the singer’s visa should be canceled and that he “had been allured by the Pak national, Mr. Rehan Siddiqui.

“It is, therefore, our humble request for you to cancel the visa of Mr. Diljit Dosanjh and his troupe or the application for a visa not be granted to restrain their performance in America, as it will be labeled anti-national”, said the written in the letter.
