The tweet however did not go well with social media users who called out Ellen for being too cautious by using the term ‘people of color’ instead of black and also boasting her privilege by being friends with right politicians like George W. Bush.

“Not people of color. George Floyd was black. Why are being so cautious? Seriously?” a user said in response.

Some also called her out for not coming forward to donate to the Black Lives Matter movement, all the while writing cheques left right and center on her show.

“I still find it funny how Ellen Degeneres, a woman who is famous for boastfully signing life-size checks to random people on her show, can’t even post a screenshot on the internet of her donating money in support of Black lives,” the user wrote.

In response, Ellen not only deleted tweet but also announced a donation to George Floyd Memorial Fund.
