A Lahore based woman came forward on Saturday hurling allegations of sexual and financial abuse against Pakistan cricketer Babar Azam.
A woman named Hamiza Mukhtar, in a press conference at Lahore Press Club, alleged that the national team captain abused her sexually over the years on the pretext of marriage.
The woman who claims to be a former class fellow of Babar Azam said, “He has been exploiting me for ten years by giving false promises of marriage”, adding that they had lived then in different houses at Gulberg and Punjab Housing Society. But, Babar refused to marry her.
She added that Babar proposed to her in 2010 at her home but both her and Babar’s families did not agree to the proposal.
Furthermore, the woman alleged that she eloped with Babar for court marriage in 2011 and they had lived then in different houses at Gulberg and Punjab Housing Society.
She kept added that Babar’s attitude towards her started changing as soon as he was selected for the national team. And there were such events that she could not go to her home and Babar promised to marry her when the time would be right.
According to her, she got pregnant in 2015, and Babar finding that out severely tortured her and later forced her into the abortion with the help of his two friends and brother.
Adding more to it , Haamiza claimed that she had all documentary and video evidence in support of her allegations. She said she even reached to the police in 2017 to register a complaint against Babar.
“Babar did not appear before the police but forced me to sign a conditional reconciliation agreement.”
She said she signed the agreement after getting his promise to marry her. She said Babar changed his number in 2017 and continued to get the advantage of her for three more years and in 2020 he completely rejected to marry her.
After the bombshell press conference, the social media in Pakistan is in an uproar. Babar Azam’s fans came out supporting him against all the allegations served against him.
