Fatima Bhutto Nikkah: Netizens praise centuries-old Sindhi tradition at her wedding
Fatima Bhutto Nikkah’s photos went viral on social media. And what caught Netizens’ attention other than the bride and groom was the centuries-old tradition of a Sindhi marriage “La’oon” performed after nikkah.
Congratulations are in order for the newlyweds on their intimate yet most simple but elegant wedding.
We won’t be having any other ceremonies, I’m not one for opulent weddings but especially now it feels so inappropriate given what so many are struggling through. I missed my darling father tremendously, but he was with us. I felt him in my heart and among us as everyone present… pic.twitter.com/4rHJBQtVgD

Great wedding. Simplicity is supreme than unnecessary expanses and display of status.

What I loved was Sindhi Layoon rasam and Graham’s Ajrak. You look like a fairy in Mohsin’s jora. Mashaallah Mashaallah Mashaallah

This act of bringing the heads of bride and bridegroom together is called “La’oon” (لائون) in Sindhi. It is performed by the close relatives of the couple and is centuries old tradition of a Sindhi marriage. It was nice to see the traditional ceremony performed at @fbhutto… pic.twitter.com/bK8AXch15C

This ritual in our Sindhi weddings is called Laoun in which the bride and groom are seated opposite each other and seven married men&women approach the couple and take turns at (softly)banging their heads together (normally 3 times) to bless them💕 pic.twitter.com/gP3DTq1OCL
Some Sindhi rituals were also performed during Fatima Bhutto @fbhutto wedding ceremony. pic.twitter.com/IrspAiUurb
