Hamza Ali Abbasi will Cancel His Netflix Subscription for Sexualizing Minors

Netflix recently released a poster and teaser of its upcoming film Cuties that revolves around 11-year old Amy “who defies her conservative family when she becomes aware of her burgeoning sexuality” says the film description on the OTT site.

However, the poster that features four young girls is being dubbed as ‘pedophiles pleasure’ and many, including Pakistani actor Hamza Ali Abbasi, have demanded Netflix to cancel the film.

“It’s horrifying to see a show in the mainstream blatantly sexualising 11-year-old kids. If this show is still there by the next month, I am canceling my Netflix subscription and so should you,” tweeted Hamza as he added the link of the petition signed by thousands to have the film removed.

“Cancel Cuties on Netflix! – Sign the Petition!” added the Waar actor.

The streaming service has however resorted to an apology of the poster merely whereas the film is still said to be released in September.

“We’re deeply sorry for the inappropriate artwork that we used for Mignonnes/Cuties. It was not OK, nor was it representative of this French film which won an award at Sundance. We’ve now updated the pictures and description,” Netflix said on Twitter.
