Modi Government tried to silence the Sikh rapper but the move backfired

The government’s efforts to silence Indian-born, UK-based rapper Hard Kaur’s support for Sikhs For Justice’s (SFJ) Referendum 2020 campaign for an independent Khalistan by blocking her latest video backfired and now almost entire India is well-aware of the Sikh Tehreek. Thanks to the government’s resistance and the power of social media, Kaur’s video had become one of the top Twitter trends in the country, despite her account being suspended.

Unshakeable Kaur has now challenged both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah “to come in the ring alone” and fight in response to the sedition case that the government recently filed against her for her anti-Hindutva comments, despite receiving severe rape and death threats.

Kaur’s video has also luckily given Indian citizens a chance to hear the other side of the story as the government had always attempted to monopolize the conversation about independent Khalistan by falsely claiming that the SFJ and their legal advisor Gurpatwant Singh Pannun are “Pakistani-backed terrorists”.

The Khalistan Movement is a Sikh Separatist movement which seeks to create a separate country called Khalistan in the Punjab region to serve as a homeland for Sikhs. Hard Kaur and various other celebrities have been supporting the SFJ referendum 2020, an unofficial referendum that would serve as a key factor in the movement and the matters will further be decided on the basis of its response.
