Here’s Why You Need to Know Anne Hathaway’s Reason to Quit Drinking

It’s been a few months since Anne Hathaway had revealed in Ellen DeGeneres show that she had quit drinking for her son. However this time around while speaking to a magazine, Anne went into depth of her decision and shared some very important lesson for us to look at.

The Devil Wears Prada star shared that she did not have a drinking problem, but the way she had to face hangover after drinking was something of a problematic nature for her as a mother. “My issue is I just love it. So. Much. But the way I do it makes me unavailable for my son,” said Anne.

The actress also reflected back on her last hangover which lasted for five days. She said she did not like it, she felt like a traitor and most of all she did not want to be absent when her son needs her the most. This is why she has chosen to not drink till her son is in her house (for next 18 years or so).

However, interestingly, Anne had a very clear stance on moral policing. “I just want to make this clear: Most people don’t have to do such an extreme thing. I don’t think drinking is bad. It’s just the way I do it [it does not] goes with having a child for me. But this isn’t a moralistic stance,” said the Dark Knight actress.

Now while we commend Anne’s decision to let go of something she loves for the betterment of her 3 year old son, we would even more so appraise her for not raising fingers at other parents. Anne’s reason to quit drinking is simple and suits her but she does not find it appropriate to get on a high horse for her actions, that’s the lesson we should look at. Do what is good for you, but don’t expect others to fit in your standards of perfection!
