Iconic comedian Ismail Tara laid to rest in Karachi!
Veteran actor Ismail Tara passes away on Nov 24 aged 73.
He suffered kidneys failure and was put on ventilator in a hospital in Karachi where he breathe his last on Thursday evening.
Ismail Tara’s funeral prayer was offered on Friday and was laid to rest in Karachi’s Hassan Square graveyard.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, and one daughter.
With his demise an era of Comedy and Satire comes to an end in Pakistan.
Many grew up watching Ismail Tara’s satire, the natural humour and how he captivated his audience by his presence.
He was a core constant in the classic PTV’s skit show Fifty-Fifty that aired from 1979-84. And that’s where his first real burst of fame came.
Ismail Tara excelled in playing common, everyday people from across classes and ethnic groups that is why even four decades later, Tara’s performance in Fifty-Fifty remains timeless, greatest feat comedy can achieve.
Ismail Tara deserved a lot more respect and appreciation than what he got in his life.
