Imran Qureshi honoured with ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres’ by France

Qureshi is internationally celebrated for his mastery of contemporary miniature painting and site-specific installations.

Imran Qureshi, a prominent contemporary Pakistani artist, has been awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.

This honour recognizes his significant contributions to the arts and culture both in Pakistan and internationally.

The award was presented during a reception in Lahore hosted by H.E. Nicolas Galey, the Ambassador of France to Pakistan, on February 22, 2025.

Sharing the clicks from the ceremony on Instagram, Qureshi wrote, “I am deeply humbled to receive the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government, a recognition that celebrates artistic contributions and cultural dialogue.”

“A heartfelt thank you to H.E. Mr. Nicolas Galey, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, for this incredible honour. This moment is not just a personal milestone but a testament to the power of art in fostering connections across borders,” he added.

French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati emphasized Qureshi’s impact on the cultural landscape in her official letter, stating that the award is a tribute to his creativity and dedication to the arts.

She noted that it is one of the primary distinctions among France’s ministerial orders, aimed at rewarding individuals who have distinguished themselves through their artistic achievements or support for cultural dissemination.

Qureshi is internationally celebrated for his mastery of contemporary miniature painting and site-specific installations.

His work has played a pivotal role in shaping Pakistan’s contemporary art scene and fostering global artistic dialogue. He joins an esteemed group of international artists recognized for their creative excellence
