As Hollywood’s A-listers continue to endorse Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, a shock came in when Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence recently termed herself as a ‘little Republican’ and recalled when she voted for John McCain against Barack Obama in 2008.
However, that was the only part of the podcast interview which got a lot of attention as fans expressed surprise over Jennifer’s conservative political choice. The starlet then took to Twitter and cleared the air on the matter.
“I grew up in a republican family and voted for John McCain in 2008, but through [Barack] Obama’s presidency, and growing up to realize I was voting against my own rights, I am proud to say I am a Democrat,” the actress said.
In the interview as well, Jennifer had reflected on her past political choices as she recalled her conditioning while growing up in a Republican family and how she was raised to “see the fiscal benefits of some of the Republican policies.”
It was however after 2008 and through Obama’s presidency leading to Donald Trump’s 2016 victory, that brought a total shift in Jennifer’s views. In the podcast, she had also slammed Trump who is currently running for a second term in the White House.
“This is an impeached president who’s broken many laws and refused to condemn white supremacy and it feels there’s been a line drawn in the sand,” Jennifer said of Trump whom she also criticized for harboring the increased racial violence in her hometown, Louisville, Kentucky.
