Joker acclaimed and hailed, Joaquin Phoenix who is currently on a winning spree this award season, will now be taking up an important task in his upcoming short film.
Playing the role of a medic, Phoenix’s upcoming Guardians of Life is a two-minute production that aims at discussing the threat earth is facing at the back of climate change. Directed by Shaun Monson, the short film stars Rosario Dawson, Matthew Modine and Oona Chaplin alongside Phoenix.
The film’s trailer shows an unidentified patient on operation table who’s struggling to fight for life as Australian fire and deforestation destabilize its vitals.
Phoenix has collaborated with Amazon Watch – a California based nonprofit group for Amazon protection – and environmentalist group Extinction Rebellion for the film that is first of the 12 short films planned on the subject.
“People don’t realize there’s still time, but only if we act now and make sweeping changes to our consumption. We can’t wait for governments to solve these problems for us,” said Phoenix while adding further, “It (the film) is really a call to action.”
