The final trailer shows Joaquin Phoenix’s character slowly moving towards the edge of breaking down and eventually becomes this dark entity which fits nowhere in the Gotham city.

The new trailer kicks of showing Phoenix on a bus, who is making faces at a young child before a creepy clip of the Joker’s therapy session begins.

“You don’t listen, do you. You just ask the same questions every week: ‘How’s your job, are you having any negative thoughts?’” Phoenix tells his therapist. “All I have are negative thoughts.”

Set in 1980, the film draws comparisons to Martin Scorsese’s 1982 film The King of Comedy, which starred Robert De Niro as an aspiring standup who idolizes a talk show host.

In the upcoming flick, De Niro plays a talk show host and stand-up whom Arthur looks up to.  Arthur’s mother character is played by Frances Conroy. While the other star cast includes Deadpool 2‘s Zazie Beetz and GLOW‘s Marc Maron.

According to film’s original synopsis,  “Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen.

Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him.

Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study”.

The newly released trailer has left the fans extremely excited to see the three-time Oscar nominee Phoenix on the big screen alongside Oscar winner Robert De Niro.
