Kanwal Naseer, Pakistan Television’s first female announcer, and drama artist passed away on Thursday.
As being reported, she away after a short illness in Islamabad today. She was 73.
Kanwal was the daughter legend Mohini Hameed (Apa Shamim) first woman broadcaster of Pakistan, and the mother-in-law of PTI Secretary Information Ahmed Jawad.
It was on March 23, when her son Aly Naseer shared the news of her illness and requested prayers.
“My mother Kanwal Naseer, has suffered a silent diabetic heart attack. She in ICU. I request you all to pray for her recovery,” he said in a tweet.
She made her first announcement at the PTV on 26th November 1964.
Born in 1948 in Lahore, Kanwal was the first female anchor, first female newscaster, and first female announcer of Pakistan Television.
Kanwal started working at the PTV at the age of 17.
The iconic presenter remained associated with Pakistan Television and Radio Pakistan for five decades.
