The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton joined the annual Royal Diplomatic Reception at the Buckingham Palace with her husband Prince William on Wednesday.
Hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, the reception is one of the most anticipated annual Royal events at Buckingham Palace attended by the members of the Diplomatic Corps based in London.
The Duchess in the event wore a floor-length velvet gown by Alexander McQueen seemingly giving tribute to her late mother-in-law Princess Diana’s Travolta Dress.
The navy blue velvet dress which Princess Diana wore for dance with the Hollywood actor John Travolta in 1985 was recently brought back to Buckingham Palace.
The dress was purchased for $347,000 in an auction.
Kate Middleton in her velvet dress looked strikingly similar to Diana wearing “Travolta Dress” is one of a photo dancing with the Hollywood actor at a royal reception.
The only difference of the dress was the long sleeves of Kate and the high-rise V neckline, while Diana’s outfit featured an off-shoulder detailing.
The Duchess of Cambridge complimented her look with a diamond necklace from the royal collection.
