Lux Style Awards: Humayun Saaed Renders Support Amidst the Boycotts

The Lux Style Awards, 2019 are soon to be held and amid the prep and anticipation, there’s a swirling controversy regarding the nominations of the award show. Lately, 7 celebrities have stepped down from the nominations, due to their reservation on nominating an alleged harasser (Ali Zafar) in one of the main categories.

The recent statement on the ongoing issue has come from actor Humayun Saeed who took to Instagram to render support to the noted award show.

In his statement, the actor said, “The Lux Style Awards have been recognizing a diverse range of artists for nearly two decades. Any dispute regarding nominations shouldn’t take away from the fact that it’s the country’s only platform to have managed to acknowledge so many incredibly talented Pakistanis for such a long time thereby making it imperative that it continues to do so in the future as well.”

Actor Ahsan Khan had also shared similar views earlier in support of LSA 2019, to be held in July.

Starting from model Eman Suleman last month, who posted on Instagram, her withdrawal from the award ceremony as she “didn’t wish to be part of an accolade shared with an alleged harasser”; many celebrities came out to boycott LSA 2019. Apparel brand Generation, model Rubab Ali, director Jami and music band The Sketches turned down their nominations as well as Meesha Shafi, the accuser in Ali Zafar case, also stepped down from the nominees.
