“I have nothing to do with politics,” Maulana Tariq Jameel clears the air

Maulana Tariq Jameel, a well-known preacher, and a religious scholar says that he has absolutely nothing to do with politics.

Maulana Tariq Jameel expressed his views after a report on the public reaction based on this impression, which was published in Jang newspaper yesterday.

Maulana Tariq Jameel says that preaching is necessary to convey the message of obedience to God’s commandments to the rulers and politicians as well as different sections of the society and this connection is not new.

Maulana Tariq Jameel said that this series has been going on since 1992. In 1997, at the invitation of the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, I had given a “preaching address” to the ministers at a meeting of his federal cabinet. There have been meetings and contacts with him in this regard.

Maulana said that earlier in 1992 there had been meetings with the then Acting President Wasim Sajjad in the Presidency and the recent meetings with former Prime Minister Imran Khan were also in this regard.

He added that he was happy when Imran Khan spoke as the Prime Minister of the state of Madinah, and that meeting was in that connection.

He said that the issue of believers and critics is that in the current political situation, we have lost the tolerance for dissenting and listening to dissent.

A report published in the daily Jang a day earlier had claimed that the views of the critics on social media regarding Maulana Tariq Jameel, despite his respect for him, criticized him and his influential personality.

With the recognition, the feeling of lack of love has gradually increased and the circles and classes which were attached to him despite their professional differences are now becoming more and more detached from him, the report claimed.

Maulana Tariq Jamil had led the Shab-e-Qadar prayers hosted by PTI Chairman and ex-PM Imran Khan at Bani Gala.

Maulana who has millions of followers on various social media accounts has been under criticism for his inclination toward PTI leader Imran Khan.

The name of the popular religious scholar has been trending on the Twitter timeline since he offered prayers at Bani Gala.

Netizens were quick to express views that Maulana should distance himself from politics being a religious figure.
