Filmmaker Jami Mehmood has shared his detailed account of the #MeToo ordeal on social media on Sunday. The details he revealed send shock waves across Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Though his story was covered by major publication’s however some took them down and republished later after editing a few things which Jami highlighted.
Many celebrities have come forward sitting their support for Jami for sharing his ordeal which has taken him around 13 years to open up about being raped by a media tycoon in Pakistan.
Meesha Shafi is one of the Pakistani celebrity who has extended her support for Jami after he shared his #MeToo account. Keeping in view that Meesha herself kickstarted the #MeToo movement in Pakistan last year when she accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
In a series of tweets Meesha wrote:
“Crying for all of you who will believe anything over a victim speaking up. You don’t want change for the better. You only want to pretend to be upset as long as it doesn’t involve anything more uncomfortable than typing,” she wrote.
“When we’re all trapped in our vile quagmire of filth, who do these truth-tellers think they are? Let’s mob them, rob them and eat them for dinner. Lose whatever morals we have, let’s become even thinner”, she added further.
And tagging Jami she concluded, “Jami, I see you. I hear you. I stand with you. Always”.
Many other celebs have voiced their support for Jami on social media, including Angeline Malik, Mehreen Jabbar, and Armeena Rana Khan.
