One of the firsts projects under the multiyear agreement Obama’s signed with streaming giant Netflix, a new documentary based on former first lady Michelle Obama’s memoir is on the way. Titled the same as a memoir, ‘Becoming’ will be on the streaming site from May 6.
The documentary will revolve around the early life of Obama’s and also cover behind the scenes of Michelle’s 34-city tour that she took prior to her book release in 2018.
“Those months I spent traveling — meeting and connecting with people in cities across the globe — drove home the idea that what we share in common is deep and real and can’t be messed with,” the former first lady had said earlier regarding her book.
Produced under the banner of Barack Obama and Michelle Obama’s company Higher Ground Production, the documentary is the first project under the agreement Obama’s signed with Netflix in 2018. As per the agreement the former first family would collaborate for ‘scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features’ with the streaming service over the next few years.
