Pakistan’s viral disappointed cricket fan Sarim Akhtar now features in the Hong Kong Museum of Memes!
Akhtar rose to fame after his disappointed face wearing a red checkered shirt and blue vest jacket with his hands on his waist during a Pakistan vs Australia ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 went viral.
Ever since then Sarim Akhtar has been the subject of many memes around the internet and the ICC had recently celebrated the second anniversary of Akhtar’s meme on June 12, 2021.
The accidental celebrity, Akthar took to Twitter revealing that his iconic meme has now found a spot in the Hong Kong Meme Museum.
“Disappointed Fan. The photo features a disappointing cricket fan, Muhammad Sarim Akhtar,” reads the caption of the meme plate installed at the museum.
“I got featured in the Hong Kong Museum of memes. Yohoo,” Sarim said in the caption of his post.
“My sister found the video of the Hongkong K11 museum of memes on YouTube scroll to 0.37 sec,” he shared in another tweet.
The Disappointed Fan meme has went way beyond the cricket space, especially in countries like Uganda, Botswana, Malaysia, and Indonesia, modified according to the situation.
Since then the meme has been shared millions and billions of times on the internet. In fact, it has become one of the most popular used templates of memes.
