Penn Badgley’s openness about his spiritual journey has resonated with fans worldwide

Hollywood actor Penn Badgley, known for his lead roles in the hit TV series Gossip Girl and Netflix’s You, has revealed a deeply personal side of his spiritual life: He regularly reads the Quran and keeps a copy on his bedside table!
In a recent interview with USA Today, the 38-year-old actor shared that he meditates on verses from the Quran before going to sleep. Badgley explained that this nightly ritual brings him a sense of mental balance and spiritual grounding, especially after portraying the intense and dark character of Joe Goldberg in “You.”
He emphasized how deeply he reflects on the verses, describing them as a source of introspection and peace.
Badgley’s spiritual practices extend beyond reading the Quran. He also performs the Long Obligatory Prayer, a central devotion in the Baháʼí Faith, every day.
He noted that the prayer typically takes about 15 minutes to recite, but he has memorized it and can complete it in as little as nine minutes when pressed for time.
Despite a busy schedule as a father and actor, he prioritizes this spiritual routine, saying it helps him reconnect with the purpose and meaning of life.
Badgley has been married to singer and actress Domino Kirke since 2017, and the couple has a four-year-old son. They are currently expecting twins.
“Honestly, on my nightstand I have the Quran, which sometimes I’ll meditate on a passage from,” Badgley said. “There’s this particular prayer within the Baháʼí Writings called the long obligatory prayer. It takes about 15 minutes to say. I have it memorized, and I’ve had it memorized for years, because I love it.”
