PM Imran Khan Termed as Muslim Man of the Year by Jordan’s Magazine
Prime Minister Imran Khan who was recently hailed amongst the 100 Most Influential People of 2019 has now emerged as Muslim Man of the Year. The honor, bestowed by a magazine of an independent research group of Jordan, has come as PM leads the list of 500 Most Influential Muslims around the world.
The Jordanian publication every year publishes a list of 500 most influential Muslims and highlights the top 50. The top 50 are then helmed by Man of the Year and Woman of the Year. The individuals are selected after assessment on 13 categories of influence including but not limited to politics, science, religious affairs, and business.
As PM Imran stood out as Man of the Year, Rashida Tlaib, a US congresswoman is termed as Woman of the Year.
The editor in chief of Muslim 500 and Professor Emeritus of Journalism at the American University in Cairo, Professor S. Abdallah Schleifer also published a detailed note as to why Imran Khan has been honored with the title.
“What is particularly to his credit is that upon taking office in August 2018, Imran Khan made it quite clear that one of his top priorities was to work for a lasting peace with India. He wanted to normalize relations through trade, and settling the Kashmir dispute,” said the Professor as he stated the foremost reason for PM’s eligibility for the title.

Adding further, he also noted Imran Khan’s cricketing career and philanthropist side, the outcome of which is Shaukat Khanum.
“If The Muslim 500 was in print back in 1992 and I was then chief editor I would have nominated Imran Khan as our Muslim Man of the Year because of his brilliant performance in cricket, which culminated in Pakistan winning the 1992 Cricket World Cup — a sport I have always admired for its combination of elegance and intense competitive play,” wrote the chief editor.
“I also was touched when Khan launched a successful fundraising campaign to establish a hospital devoted to both the care of victims of cancer as well as research,” he added.
