Poet Professor Inayat Ali Khan Tonki passes away in Karachi
Famous poet Professor Inayat Ali Khan Tonki passed away in Karachi on Sunday.
Aged 85, he was suffering from kidney problems. He was admitted to a local hospital earlier in June and recovered.
His funeral prayers were offered at 1 pm at Aisha Masjid in Surti Muslim Cooperative Housing Society, Model Colony 2, Malir in Karachi, on Sunday.
His work includes Azraah-e-Inayat, Inaayaat, Inaayatein Kya Kya, Nihaayat (selection of his poetry), Nisaab-e-Kitab-e-Urdu, Nisaab-e-Kutb-e-Islaamiyaat, Kuch Aur.
He has also written 40 books for children.
He is the author of the Urdu Darsi Kutub written for Madaris-e-Sooba-e-Sindh, and six of his books on the basis of competition have won the prize.
Prof. Inayat Ali was born in 1935 in the Indian city of Tonk and migrated to Pakistan with his family in 1948. The family settled in Hyderabad, where he received both his primary and secondary education.
