Pop Singer Cher is Imran Khan’s Fan Since His Cricketing Days

Earlier last month American pop singer Cher took it to Twitter to share her joy over elephant Kaavan’s release, ordered by Islamabad High Court. “We have just heard from Pakistan High Court that Kaavan is free. This is one of the greatest moments of my life,” Cher had tweeted.

A few days later, as the Fernando singer continues to feel ecstatic about the news, she once again took to social media and this time thanked PM Imran Khan, whom she has admired since his cricketing days.

“I was a big fan of you when you played cricket Imran Khan. I always thought you seemed so kind. Thank you so much for your help. This is a dream come true,” the 74-year old artist tweeted.

Cher also mentioned Fawad Chaudhary, whom she appreciated for supporting FTW.

“Fawad Chaudhry, I am so grateful for your understanding and support to FTW (Free The Wild),” the Dark-Lady singer tweeted.

Kavaan is now a 36-year old elephant who was gifted to Pakistan’s ruler General Zia ul Haq in 1985 by the Sri Lankan government. Seeing his violent tendencies the zookeepers held the elephant in chains in 2002 but soon due to public outrage, he was freed. Since then he became one of the most prominent figures of animal rights in the country and after another petition in 2016, his plight got international attention.

Last month Islamabad High Court order wildlife to consult with Sri Lankan authorities and find a suitable sanctuary for the elephant. Cher has been one of the most prominent advocates of Kaavan’s cause.
