A documentary on the life events of Princess Diana is in works for Netflix. However, titled Being Me: Diana the documentary has stirred controversy for the subjects it will cover in the Princess’s life, including her attempted suicides and mental health issues post-divorce with Prince Charles.
The documentary, produced by DSP, has come out as upsetting for both Prince William and Prince Harry who do not wish such subjects to be addressed in a documentary, reported The Sun. One of the claims the documentary is said to be making is that Princess, after her troublesome marriage, attempted suicide four times in her life.
“At a time when the royals have been dealt a blow with Harry and Meghan leaving, the timing is not good,” said a source.
“William and Harry will be very upset and angry. It’s particularly distressing for Harry because he’s been working with Netflix,” the source added while mentioning Harry in particular who collaborated with the streaming service for Thomas The Tank Engine 75th anniversary special project.
However, the spokesperson for DSP undermined the controversy as the company maintains it’s only using public information and not digging up the private life of the late Princess of Wales.
“This is a not a commissioned show and everything within the treatment is already in the public domain,” said Endemol Shine, spokesperson of DSP.
