Priyanka Chopra defends close friend Meghan Markle, calls her ‘victim of racism’

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who is also a best friend to the Duchess of Sussex, stood up for her close friend saying Meghan is a ‘victim of racism’ and defended her following the public backlash.

The 36-year-old the Isn’t It Romantic star during her interview with Sunday Times Magazine said Meghan is facing hurdles much because of her biracial heritage. The actress said that she believed Meghan could handle the critics.

“I’ve seen that and it’s really unfortunate. But if there’s anyone who can handle it, it’s her. Of course, it has to do with racism, it’s an obvious reason,” she said.

Chopra, while praising her friend said, Meghan – has been a humbled person and has remained grounded even after getting married to Prince Harry.

“The beauty of Meg is that she’s been herself through all of this. A lot of people got to know her after everything, but I knew her before [she started dating Harry] and she’s the same chick. Now she’s got a real platform, she talks about the same things she always did,” the Quantico star added.

Priyanka bonded with Meghan when they were both filming in Canada.

It was reported earlier that the duo had fallen out after Chopra did not attend Meghan’s baby shower, especially after the latter failed to attend the former’s wedding to musician Nick Jonas.

However, Chopra rubbished away the rumours describing them as “simply not true”.
