Qandeel Baloch’s parents forgive sons who murdered her!

In a rather surprising and sad turn of events, Qandeel Baloch’s, the social media starlet, who has murdered by her brothers, parents have forgiven their sons for killing their daughter. The parents submitted an affidavit in a Multan court stating that they had pardoned the killers and that they should be acquitted.

In 2016, Qandeel Baloch was murdered, strangled to death by her brother in the name of honor. Waseem, confessed to have killed Qandeel because she had brought dishonor to the family’s name with her social media videos and controversial statements.

The affidavit submitted by Baloch’s parents states that the Anti-Honour Killing Laws (Criminal Amendment Bill) 2015, which prevents killers from being free if pardoned by victim’s family, was passed months after Qandeel’s murder and therefore does not apply to her case.

Also, as per the allegations that Qandeel was killed for “honour” were “contrary to facts” and therefore asked the court to acquit the suspects under Section 345 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

The court has now summoned the lawyers representing the prosecution in the murder case alongside the counsel for Qandeel’s parents.

Earlier, after the anti-honor killing law was passed, Qandeel’s parents had vowed not to forget their sons for their daughter’s murder. The two later backtracked on the statement stating and requesting the court to wrap up the murder case, saying they had forgiven both their sons. The appeal was dismissed by the then judge, quoting the anti honor killing law.
