Raveena Tandon Wishes Zaira Wasim Had Kept ‘Regressive Views’ to Herself While Quitting Bollywood

Dangal famed actress Zaira Wasim shocked everyone over the weekend, as she announced she’s quitting Bollywood. Zaira’s sole reason of exit was to protect her religion which according to her was being threatened because of her line of work.

While many applauded Zaira’s decision and courage to come out, veteran actress Raveena Tandon seemed a little unhappy over the actress’s statement.

“I standby and love my industry, all the opportunities it gives to everyone. Exit is your choice, reason, by all means. Just do not demean it for everyone else,” said Raveena on Twitter.

“The industry where all work shoulder to shoulder, no differences, caste, religion or where you come from,” the Andaz Apna Apna actress said.

She further posted, “Doesn’t matter if two-film olds are ungrateful to the industry that have given them all. Just wish they’d exit gracefully and keep their regressive views to themselves.”

While calling Zaira a ‘two-films old’ and regressive, Raveena found it essential to mention that she did respect Zaira’s decision though.

“I respect her decision to quit, announce to her fans, her life, her choice. Would’ve been more graceful if she had not condemned all as the reason for doing so,” she wrote another Tweet.

Zaira who had become a widely acclaimed actress for her two films Dangal and Secret Superstar, came out on social media and shared her decision of leaving Bollywood. The actress who has won one Filmfare Award for Best Actress and one Best Supporting Actress, stunned the fraternity with her note.

“While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my imaan, my relationship with my religion was threatened.  As I continued to ignorantly pass through while I kept trying to convince myself that what I was doing is okay and isn’t really affecting me, I lost all the Barakah from my life.,” wrote 19-year old Zaira as she announced her exit.

Zaira will be seen in her third and supposedly last film The Sky is Pink alongside Priyanka Chopra and Farhan Akhtar.
