Richard Gere has secretly tied a knot with his Spanish girlfriend Alejandra Silva, confirms source. Gere, 68, and publicist, Silva, 35, were reported to have started dating in 2014 and quietly married a few months ago.
It is now being confirmed by a Spanish Magazine that the couple is likely to throw a party celebrating their marriage, that took place in a quiet civil ceremony, inviting close family and friends in May in New York City.
It’s also being reported that the happily married couple after tying knot in Spain are settled in New York at the moment along with Alejandra’s 5 year old son Albert from her previous marriage.
A film source who has known Richard for years tells media that Richard has been much happier in this half of his life because he is settled, confident and doing what he likes. Both of them have been spotted together at various occasions.
Source also spoke of Richard practicing Buddhism and doing humanitarian work have fulfilled and transformed him, and he is at a stage when he can make the kinds of films that he likes.
The main reason discussed for which Richard has found Alejandra Silva as a partner is that she values humanitarian work as much as he does. The Spanish activist runs Rais Fundacion, which is working to eradicate homelessness in Spain in five years. The two also have religion in common now as Silva converted to Buddhism after connecting with the film, Pretty Woman, sensation.
This is Gere’s third marriage, first was with supermodel Cindy Crawford that lasted from 1991 to 1995. Gere also has a 17 year old son Homer, with his second wife Carey Lowell. Lowell and Gere married in 2002 before a controversial divorce, after separating in 2013, which was later finalized in 2016.
