RIP Umer Sharif: Entertainment fraternity bids farewell to the legendary artist

Entertainment fraternity bids farewell to the legendary artist and the legacy of Bakra Qiston Per creator Umer Sharif, who has dominated Pakistani screens for the last 40 years.

Regarded as The King of Comedy, Umer Sharif passed away on Saturday, Oct. 2, after his health deteriorated further during treatment at a hospital in Berlin, Germany.

Many of the prominent names of the Pakistan showbiz industry took to social media to extend their condolences for the legendary artist Who Made The Whole World Laugh.

 

“You shall always always be remembered.. thank you for laughter. Rest in peace. Umar Shareef,” tweeted Mahira Khan.

Shehzad Roy, the singer-turned activist in his tweet said, “If you were in his company he would never let you get sad or down. The way he used to see the world was very different from most of us and that could be witnessed in his performances. You will be missed Sir #umarsharif.”

Khaani star Sana Javed said thanked the legendary Umer Sharif for spreading laughter.

Popular host Dino Ali, sharing an old clip from a stage show, in a tweet, said, “There will never be anyone like you #umarsharif Sir – king of comedy RIP #UmerSharif.”

 

“Heartbroken to receive the devastating news of our very own king of comedy #UmerSharif,” said popular actor Faysal Quraishi.
“He was a true gem in our industry and nothing short of a legend amongst us. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah. Praying for his family during this difficult time,” Faysal added in his tweet.

Meray Paas Tum Ho star, Adnan Siddiqui in his tweet said, “#UmerSharif sahib, you must be at peace now. You made us laugh so much and in end left all of us heartbroken. Go, regale heaven with your jokes.”

Osman Khalid Butt in his tweet said, “Here’s to the King of Comedy. May you get the highest place in Jannah.”

Fakhr e Alam in his tweet said, “Thank you for the laughs….you will live forever. Rest In Peace Legend.”

Humayun Saeed also expressed sorrow over the demise of Umer Sharif.

 

Uncountable messages and tributes are pouring in on social media today for Pakistan’s Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient, Umer Sharif for his contributions as a comedian, actor, and producer in the entertainment industry.

Condolences continue to pour in for Umer Sharif. Many of the politicians including Senator Faisal Javed, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani extended condolences for Umer Sharif’s wife and family.

PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also expressed his grief at the demise of Umer Sharif, recounting his contributions to the nation. Bilawal also went on to thank the deceased for re-defining comedy in Pakistan.
