Senior PTI leader and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Naeemul Haque passed away last night in Karachi. Just as the news came in, Twitter was flooded with tweets expressing grief over the sad demise of Haq who lost his battle against cancer.

Celebrities including Mahira Khan, Mehwish Hayat, and political figures poured condolences for the late PTI member.

“Very saddened to hear of the passing of Naeem ul Haq sir today. Each time we met his words of encouragement proved invaluable. My condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. I pray that his soul may rest in peace,” said Mehwish Hayat on Twitter.

Mahira Khan, who also recalled closeness with Haq and his family through his mother’s side, also remembered the politician in loving words.

“Every time I met him he was so kind and respectful. Rest in peace. #NaeemulHaq,” said Mahira while adding that Haq treated his wife like a child during her illness days and the two have finally reunited.

“Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un Respect & gratitude for our beloved veteran Insafian #NaeemUlHaq. Someone who stood by #PMIK when no one else did through 23yrs of struggle &remained steadfast till very end. May Allah bless him with best of hereafter, his void will always be felt,” tweeted Syed Zulfiqar Bukhari.

PTI leader Senator Faisal Javed too expressed grief over his colleague and co-host’s passing away.

“You ‘ll be missed Naeem Bhai 🙁 Barsoon ka sath hamesha yaad rehay ga. He was also my co-host, a great friend & has always motivated me. May ALLAH rest his soul in peace & give enough strength to family & friends to cope with this huge loss,” tweeted PTI leader.
