Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar to attend Kaifi Azmi conference in Karachi
Bollywood veteran actress Shabana Azmi and her husband, renowned poet, and lyricist, Javed Akhtar will visit Karachi to take part in a conference on the acclaimed poet Kaifi Azmi.
Kaif Azmi was an acclaimed poet and Shabana Azmi’s father. According to a report, Shabana Azmi and her husband Javed Akhtar will arrive in Karachi to attend the conference on February 23 & 24.
The visas of the Indian speakers should be processed soon. The event is scheduled to take place at The Arts Council, Karachi.
The festival will pay tribute to the renowned poet and many famous personalities from Pakistan and across the border have been invited to attend.
It has reported that other cultural figures from India are also attending, including academic Ali Ahmad Fatmi, who’s been an Urdu professor at the University of Allahabad and authored over 15 books on Urdu language and literature.
Shabana Azmi and her husband are no strangers to attending events in Karachi. The couple also took part in the Faiz Festival in Lahore which took place last year.
Speaking to media, Azmi and her husband had said that they had brought the message of love and peace.
Shabana Azmi and her husband have spoken on peace between India and Pakistan on numerous occasions.
She thanked the people of Lahore last year for according her a warm welcome and said that she was looking forward to visiting Pakistan again.
