Shahid Kapoor who started his career as a young college boy in Ishq Wishq has now transformed into a versatile actor who does not shy away from doing unusual and challenging roles. This transformation, however, came with the support of director Vishal Bhardwaj, who Shahid believes helped him break the barriers.
In a recent promotional event of Shahid’s upcoming Kabir Singh, the actor opened up about his association with Vishal who has helmed Shahid’s films like Kaminey, Haider, and Rangoon.
“He helped me discover myself as an actor,” said Shahid who proved his mettle through these out of the ordinary roles in Vishal’s films. “He’s special to me,” the 38-year-old added.
Shahid added that it was Vishal’s vision that enabled him to shock the audience with his new avatar and escape the cliched chocolate Boy image he held.
Shahid further stated that he appreciates every director who offers him roles he has never done before. Among those names, one is Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is the director of Shahid and Kiara Advani starter Kabir Singh.
A remake of Telugu film, Kabir Singh is ready to hit cinema screens tomorrow (June 21).
