South Korean Actress Kim Sae-Ron Dies at 24; Investigation Underway
Sae-ron was best known for her roles in “A Man From Nowhere” and “Bloodhounds.”
South Korean actress Kim Sae-Ron was found dead at her home in Seoul on Sunday. She was 24.
The discovery was made by a friend who had planned to meet her.
Authorities have confirmed that there are no immediate signs of foul play, but an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death.
A source from the police stated, “There were no signs of crime including break-in, and we are investigating the exact circumstances of her passing. We kindly ask for consideration of the deceased and the bereaved family and that you refrain from speculating about the specific circumstances and manner of death. We ask for your understanding that the police cannot confirm.”
Kim Sae-Ron began her acting career as a child star and gained international recognition for her roles in films like “A Brand New Life” (2009) and “The Man from Nowhere” (2010).
She continued to build a successful career with notable performances in “The Neighbor” (2012), “A Girl at My Door” (2014), and the television series “Mirror of the Witch” (2016).
However, Kim’s career faced challenges after she was involved in a drunk-driving incident in May 2022. This led to significant backlash and impacted her ability to secure new roles.
Despite attempts to revive her career, including appearances in projects like Netflix’s “Bloodhounds,” much of her work was cut due to controversy surrounding the DUI incident.
As news of Kim Sae-Ron’s passing spread, tributes poured in from fans and fellow actors remembering her talent and potential that went unrealized due to personal struggles.
The South Korean entertainment industry is mourning the loss of this young talent whose life ended abruptly under circumstances still being investigated by authorities.
