The Queen legally has no right to stop Harry & Meghan from using the term “Sussex Royal” overseas

Seems like the Queen isn’t really happy with Harry and Meghan’s exit from the royal family and that she’s making sure to make her displeasure public now.

According to latest devlopments, as Queen Elizabeth forbade Harry and Meghan to use the “Sussex Royal” moniker in their branding efforts, the couple would be dropping it entirely.

However, even though they are dropping the title, Meghan and Harry have made it very clear that they are only doing so to comply with the Queen’s wishes, explicitly pointing out that she legally has no right to stop them from using the term overseas.

“While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word “Royal” overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use “Sussex Royal” or any iteration of the word “Royal” in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020,” read the statement from Meghan and Harry.

Harry and Meghan have also removed their applications to trademark the term. Also, the report suggested that the Sussexes feel that they are being treated differently to other members of the Royal family who have previously sought employment outside the monarchy, highlighting their one-year review.

“While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place,” was clearly pointed out.

If the latest developments serve as a proof, its quite obvious that  Meghan and Harry are clearly not happy with the way the Queen is handling their transition and are not afraid to speak publicly about that.
