‘This is not a holiday,’ Mehwish Hayat sends out a strong message to fans on coronavirus pandemic

While the nation is going through dark times amidst the coronavirus outbreak in the country, our celebs are playing a major role by advising and urging their fans to stay safe and stay home to help stop the rapid spread of the virus in the country.

Popular TV and film actress Mehwish Hayat has requested people to stay at home to save lives as even their minor negligence can put many in danger.

“Pakistan is facing the biggest challenge currently, how we behave now will decide the fate of our generations to come,” Mehwish said in her video message to fans on Instagram.

The actress discussed the statistics while emphasizing on the fact that even the most efficient healthcare departments of the world have failed at the hands of the pandemic.

“What chances do we have then? In a place like Karachi where 20 million people reside, the intensive care wards have only 600 beds. Pakistan’s population is 220 million and the number of ventilators across the country? 1700. Last week there were only 15000 masks for doctors and nurses..”

“This is not a holiday,” she said urging fans to act responsibly and protect themselves and their loved ones.

The Tamgha e Imtiaz honorary applauded all the health workers and medical staff who are working selflessly to save the patients infected by coronavirus.

She added “Front line medical staff have to have the right protective equipment to fight COVID-19 or the situation will deteriorate rapidly.”

Mehwish questioned how they will protect others if they don’t have sufficient gear to protect themselves. “Not only is their attendance being affected, but their health is also deteriorating.”

She appealed to the government to provide the right protective gear to the medical staff on a priority basis.

The Punjab Nahi Jaungi actress also appealed to the nation to donate as much as they can to the PM’s Relief Fund.

“We need to give what we can to the Prime Minister’s relief fund,” the actress requested.
